To me it's simple as this:
bASS is respectful in CHA because the group is comprised almost entirely of
DIY.

He is disdainful of the people in this group because ASA is frequented
mostly by tradespeople. Since he is barred from the trade by law, and since
he really couldn't make much of himself while he did dabble there in the
past, he is extremely jealous of the people here.
