Check out the Yale Skull & Bones Secret Society requirements for military
service. Kerry most likely set the Bones record for distinguishing himself
in the military in three months. Afterwards he got the flock out of there
to stake out a Massachusetts political career by making a name for himself
as an anti-war hero (which always seems to work in the modern era Bay
State). There seems to have been a good deal of forethought by Kerry on how
to execute this plan.

Out of a USA population of something like 300 million people there are
approx. 600 living Bonesmen. In 2004 two Bonesmen ran against each other
for President. Consider the odds.
