True.  Also, working with the system live is a good way to damage it.  Sans
power it's a snap to move a keypad.

That's actually a good idea since the keypad performs the functions of an
annunciator when there's a fire alarm condition.  Are they using ordinary
18/4 or power limited fire alarm cable?

18/4 is readily available at Home Depot and a host of electrical supply
houses.  Fire alarm cable is available through scores of online alarm
vendors, including yours truly.
