Re: Fire Side Chat -- Fire Alarm Code Issue

[sigh] This is so basic that even RLB ought to know it. Note the phrase
"except fire warnings in dwellings" below. Anyone who actually does this
stuff for a living ought to be familiar with the code, however since you
don't do this for a living you are excused for referencing the wrong
sections..

1-5.1 states
The provisions of chapter 1 shall apply to chapters 2 through 7
The basic requirements for all fire alarms, except fire warnings in
dwellings, are contained in chapter 1, Chapter 8 is a stand alone chapter
with specific requirements for detection in residential family occupancies
such as single-family homes, apartments and condomininiums.

Furthermore the section you quoted 1-5.3 is irrelevant for two reasons, one
the above section referenced by you points to chapter 8 for residential
requirements and two, 110VAC smoke detectors do not draw their their power
from a fire alarm as referenced in 1-5.3 quoted by you

Throughout this thread you don't seem to be able to grasp the difference
between Alarm Control Panels with system smoke detectors and interconnected
110VAC smoke detectors.
