Nope. It's not a "runaway". It's trying to communicate to a central
station. Once it's successful in transmitting it's signals, the "red LED"
will flash about once every 3 - 5 seconds. If you *don't* allow it to
communicate, it will go into "trouble". The yellow trouble LED will light
and the keypads will beep every few seconds. To "shut it up", simply press
the "#" sign next to the "0". Unfortunately the "trouble LED" is going to
stay lit.
