That is true. However, scientists from numerous
disciplines have studied various aspects of
global warming including biology, biochemistry,
biophysics, forestry, geology, statistics, etc.
The work that has been done on the subject
isn't Al Gore's invention like the Internet. :^)
The effort is global, including scientific studies
done on every continent for years.

Unlike Usenet posters (including you and me),
some base their opinions on analysis of actual
data.

That's preposterous. Science doesn't seek
our consensus. It seeks knowledge of fact,
regardless whether you or I like what those
facts tell us.

The problem is that there are powerful industries
whose profits will be impacted by any environmental
standards which arise from scientific consensus.
It's of no concern to politicians whether you or I
"get behind" anything. They follow the money and
for decades the big money has been able to buy
congressmen and the current president's
loyalties. These are not people who give a rat's
bunda (see, I'm being nice and didn't say the "J"
word) about truth, the future of our nation or even
of the earth. They care about money, power and
nothing else.

You may not like Gore because he's a Democrat
but at least he has the decency to fight for what
he believes. Bush and his cronies couldn't care
less about the environment. They clearly don't
care about Americans since they have killed
more of them than Bin Laden.
