It was her response which indicates she was a virgin at the time.

His brother was born later and by all accounts was conceived in the normal
manner.  Catholics insist that Mary remained a virgin forever.  Most other
Christians believe that she was only a virgin until after the birth of
Christ.

What you choose to believe is your business.  I believe in Christ but I
don't often try to convince anyone of my beliefs in USENET.  If someone asks
questions about biblical issues, I enjoy the discussion though.
