Re: Lufkin Security Experiances

The documentation has been re-written and is a little better than it =
used to be...however.....

Make sure the kit comes with a keypad you can fully program the panel =
with. The inexpensive keypads; 6128, 6148 you can't program the zones =
with...you can only program part of the system with them (this can be =
really frustrating if you don't know).

Also...most alarm instructions are written in Alarmlish, if you don't =
understand the terminology, it ain't explained anywhere.

With the Ademco stuff you will find yourself bouncing from three =
different manuals; user, install, programming, and maybe even an =
addendum (i find this annoying).

It isn't a really hard panel to program however...as long as you =
understand Alarmlish.

I also recommend setting it up on your kitchen table first, program it =
there with the zones strapped out, connect phone line and send signals =
with it under controlled situation...call the CS and see if they got the =
right signal...then install the system in your house. This can save =
hours of frustration looking for a problem that may not exist.
