I found and followed this guide:

And amazingly, it worked... - no problems with the LBA48 BIOS support
etc. - which I found fairly impressive since this particular XBOX is a
very old version 1.0 model

It confused me for a little while trying to figure out why G: was
referred to as partition 7 in that procedure, - I'm used to partitions
being numbered starting from C: so I initially expected G: to be
partition 5... but I guess it's kind of obvious once you think it
through...
