RE: Re: XBOX Softmod - there *IS* a god, - and he effing hates me!

Makin' progress...

Sussed out formatting the remaining disk space into the G: partition...

Got XBMC installed & running on it... - that really does seem to make
all the anguish worthwhile... - that's a pretty awesome app...

Chucked a load of MP3s on it, now looking at dropping a load of video on
as well. - next question therefore is what video formats work best? -
does it for instance support VIDEO_TS folders to play ripped DVDs
without any additional processing?

Supposing that I decide I do want to perform some additional compression
first, - what formats are supported, and what settings give the best
results on XBMC? (I know that's a bit of a "how long is a piece of
string" type question!) - I'd like to get films into about 2GB, which
I
think won't require *too* much additional compression, and thus should
hopefully keep the quality up to near-DVD levels...

TIA

Paul G.

Hi Paul,

I feel your pain - I just went through the same - Fortunately I had a
grown-up to help (Marcus) and so I got away with it relatively
unscathed. It's so much easier if you ALREADY have a modded box to
sort out the exploit copy.

Anyway - I have a few apps DVDtoXbox etc. that copy DVDs to the HDD -
there is also one for games. I know they work because I have tried
them - Let me know if you are interested and I'll zip them somewhere
you can download them.

AFAIK you need to format everythingh above 137oddGb with the Evox
dashboard to be able to see it - I haven't tried it yet!

Good luck.

Tim.
