Dont know it this will work but I think the components are there.

Why not get a cheap blue tooth headset, cannibalize it and make it into
your 'star trek communicator' badge (as in TNG), then use something like
the Asterisk phone system with blue tooth set up and read the audio from
those?

I've not tried this myself but I'm sure others have done similar things
- its been used for 'person' type detection or a 'follow me' type thing
getting your nearest phone to ring - a bit of a next logical step I
guess. :)

You could give the blue tooth 'badges' out to your guests to operate the
systems too!

All you need now is the 'voice activated doors' :-)
