Yes, there is merit in what you say, but I have saved myself a lot of
money and learnt a lot when fixing technical problems with other electronic
products!

If there had been a simple series of steps to punch in to the
keypad as you do when you set the time, then I would have saved myself
both time and money.

But unless you ask, you won't know whether it's a simple
thing to fix or not! And as you could guess, I quite enjoy problem solving,
it's not just a question of saving money!
