Re: Clipsal pink Cat5 and mains cable

Should you wish you could always insert the pink cable in an outer
jacket anyway.   Just be careful to seal it at the ends such that it
doesn't retain water.  I even think there are some partially  flexible
metallised sheaths that could held reduce magnetic interference if
earthed.  Don't ask me to suggest one though.     If the mains cable is
an armoured one then its surrounded by a metal earthed braid anyway
which will help with both interference and isolation.

Depending on ease of access you might consider running a spare pink
cable too.  I have a similar situation where I didn't do this and later
wanted to add C-Bus to the 100 Mbit/s Ethernet bearing CAT5e.  In
frustration and clutching my rabbits foot  I tried utilising the spare
conductors within the CAT5e cable for C-Bus but it didn't work.
