Do read up on the PlayBar carefully - it's a good product but just not
quite as well thought through as the usual Sonos gear. Having said
that I do use one myself and am very pleased with it.

The satellite speakers (if you use them) must be Play 3's and not Play
5's . I think Play 1's are OK too.

The remote volume operation uses your existing IR remote and you must be
able to disable the internal speaker control on your TV.

The audio sources for your TV whether internal tuner, HDMI or
optical/coax must be routed via Toslink optical to the Sonos PlayBar and
for best results remain in Dolby Digital 5.1 .. DTS is not supported.
However usually (legal requirement ??) for HDMI sources the TV will only
provide PCM stereo out which is then ProLogic processed back to
surround effect by the PlayBar. There are workarounds with HDMI audio
extractors and digital switchers but it then doesn't retain the seamless
switching that keeps SWMBO happy.

On Sonos generally I am still really pleased and continue to expand,
even after seven years or so which is not the norm in this industry.
Highly recommended and it now integrates well with my HA.

Only ongoing niggle is that I wish they would implement some
controller>zone restriction so that your kids / visitors can't force
music of their choice / volume into your bedroom at any time of the
night using their phone app. If you've awoken with Dizee Rascal in bed
at 3am then please vote for this feature too...;-)
