Kitchen radio options - Sonos?

My GLW has asked for a new kitchen radio for Christmas as the cheapo
supermarket-bought CD/Radio/ipod dock can't get Radio 4 over the bit of wet
string purporting to be an aerial.
First thought was Sonos, and the Play 5 has an aux input so could feed it
with a spare sky box tuned to R4 (audio over a Cat5 cable). But, we might
want to put the unit where it won't mask the cat5 wall outlet, so does R4
work over the internet to Sonos? (could then use the Play5 wirelessly).
Do I have an option to plug the sky box in to a "widget"
somewhere else
that the Play5 can then access?
And what's the network bridge for?
If I don't have to use the aux in on the Play5, I could get a Play3
instead... Any views on Play3 vs Play5? Our kitchen is approx 6m by 6m.
