For purely home use, then you can get away with free, however
generally the
free versions are not as flexible. I can't comment on others as I don't use
them, but AVG has the same engine in the free edition, however you can only
update it once per day, but that should be sufficient for most home users.=

In terms of cost, the AVG offer is up to 3 PC's for round about =A350 for

year license, (I presume others are similar price range), so I'd hardly

less than 20 pence per PC a week a big outlay.

Reading through all these has made me realise that there are free
alternatives.

Obviously a paid package would do everything together neatly, but if I went
the free route and installed many packages I could still get the same

using AVG antivirus (free), Adaware (free), Zone Alarm (free).

I obviously want the best protection, so I don't want to skimp, but if

is money to be saved then why not.
