That's what I did for the mk2 doorbell - mk1 put the keyfob into an
oversized doorbell casing for a wireless doorbell funnily enough, but the
mechanical contacts between the housing and the push-to-make switch were
not
great so it would need physical re-seating occasionally.
MK2, I got a nice brushed steel doorbell and ran wires from it into our
consumer unit cupboard where it is just soldered onto the keyfob.
Problem now is the batteries don't last all *that* long, so I really ought
to hook it up to a PSU - thus ending up with a wired doorbell push button
that wireless sends signals to an X10 door chime and, if I could be arsed
doing it, could also be picked up by my pc etc etc and logged/flashed on
slimps/sms'ed to me etc etc etc... :~}
