LEDs too bright

I've just put together a faceplate for heating control via Comfort. Its
just
a couple of clipsal momentary switches and some LEDs - controlled via
Comfort's 12V supply

The LEDs are the style with built in resistor from Maplin - but they're too
bright. Presumably I can simply add an external resistor to reduce the
supply voltage to dim them down, but can I add a sinlge resistor to the 12V
LED supply line - or Do I need a seperate resistor in-line with each LED ?

Thanks

Dean
