RE: It lives - Xbox

have you tried using the phoneix bios loader? sorry, i dont really remember
the original email and i'm not at home right now.
that will load a modified bios into ram, over the original one, and then
you can play anything, from anywhere

Fear of a soldering Iron? Nah seriously at some point I will open it up
and probably flash the bios.
The software hack gives me everything I want at the moment.

When I turn it on I get XBMP right away and SWMBO loves it.

It started out as "I wonder how to do that" and has now turned
into
"that's cool what else can it do".

I am surprised that someone hasn't automated the process. It isn't too
big a leap for someone to bury burt and ernie in the save and once you
run the hack first time - boom hacked xbox, rather than all the fidly
stuff.

I would like the dashboard to appear so I get access to my save games
but so far I have been unsuccessful with Hex hacks to get it to work
with the font files. If I can't get that to work then I will open it up.

It's a good hack but not everyone would find it useful, it plays copied
games they must be on the HD - without a DVD burner or a copied game I
can't test booting them.

I belive that you can get a font hack to play unsigned XBEs I will have
a look for it but TBH It works as it is just now and it has proven the
point to SWMBO so funds are becoming available for more Xboxes.

Now where did I see that Xbox-TiVo thread.. ;^)

out of curiosity, why the software mod? why nto just go the whole hog
and
chip it or flash the onboard bios chip?

i have two boxes, both chipped, i been into the modding scene on xbox
since
before teh software mod, so i have a hard time grasping why use that
rather
than a chip?
