This was posted to the Clara.net announcement list last Friday:
"Due to increased load on the BT router responsible for handing off
traffic to Claranet from customers connecting to
adsl-1.uk.clara.net caused by the Nachi worm, BT have placed a
filter on ICMP echo requests ('pings') originating from ADSL
customers."
