I have a Canopus ADVC-100 which converts composite or s-video which I
use quite happily with my old-ish Sony Hi8 camcorder... I also have
experience of using a Digital 8 one (again Sony) which seems slightly
better than my own Hi8 setup, and has the advantage that it can play
back Hi8 tapes, and allow you to use the Digital Out on the camcorder,
connected to your PC to capture it as MPEG.
