Re: Best wireless router & cards for high-speed cable connection?



This is a very good point.  My Linksys router does
both wired and wireless.  I bought it after lightening
destroyed the old "wired-only" router because it
was only $10 more and there would probably be a
laptop coming soon.  I generally shut off the
wireless.  It is now on because I have a borrowed
laptop.
I noticed, with the laptop, there are 4 networks
accessable in my neighborhood.  Mine was secured
both with WEP and MAC address.  One only had WEP.
  The other 2 were completely open.  I could
access their internet connection with no problem.
  I assume their firewall was on, but I didn't try
hacking.
People just don't understand.  BTW, my 2nd
computer is connected via a wired connection.
