No it does not.  It requires hub to keypad CAT5.  It then requires keypad to
speaker wire.  No central speaker wiring is needed.  And if you need more
amplification you can put the amp nearby and avoid central wiring runs.

As for 'watts per zone' you'd be quite surprised how little it takes to
effectively cover a room.  Otherwise you end up with an overpriced and
overheating amp stuffed into a wallbox.  In the few places that need "more"
it's easy enough to just add the amp.
