Probably, but there are still a lot of the old ones out there.

You're not grounding the box of course, it's just a terminal to land the
ground wire, and maybe do some good in certain circumstances. I haven't seen
in on the single gang boxes, but the round ones have it. Must be a lighting
fixture thing. I've seen that skinny little ground tail on the fixture break
off, or even slip out of the wire nut.
