I tried that. It's not just Olson (and his numerous aliases) though. There are
several others who routinely attack without provocation. It's up to them what
they want this newsgroup to be -- total trash or a useful place in cyberspace to
share information and ideas about alarms. They can't have it both ways.
I'm perfectly willing to treat them with respect. What I'm not willing to do is
sit idly by while they continually post rubbish. If they're willing to act like
adults rather than foul-mouthed schoolyard bullies, I'll be happy to make nice.
If they want to make this place a cesspool, so be it. I guaranty that what I do
will affect them more than what they try to do. Sad to say in the 8+ years I've
participated here there has been no indication that these characters are even
capable of behaving respectfully, much less willing to do so.
I realize you're a newcomer and you haven't seen 1% of the malignant, vitriolic
trash these guys have posted. You also may not realize that they've gone RL
with me numerous times, made threatening phone calls to my home, posted the
names, addresses and telephone numbers of my elderly parents and their neighbors
(including children's telephone numbers), attempted to interfere with my
business by harassing my distributors and manufacturers, etc.
This isn't just about a few nasty-mouthed jerks having their "kicks and
giggles". They've repeatedly tried to harm my business and even attacked my
family. These same people are actually entering people's homes and businesses
offering services to *protect* them from crime! The very idea that such a vile
group of repugnant scum might be entrusted with the lives and property of
unsuspecting victims is like something out bf a Steven King novel.
Umm, other than that they're really a likeable bunch, no?
