In 8th grade in the rural area of BC I grew up in, we had a mandatory
"Conservation and Outdoor Recreation Education" course that, along with
learning how to identify various animals and how not to get lost in the
woods, included firearms training.

Rule #1 of fireamrs handling: Always, always, ALWAYS ASSUME THAT ANY GUN
*IS LOADED*.
