Most all are. The interesting thing about it is that it exempts them from
licensing requirements and, as proven in studies, are some of the worst as
far as false alarms. Instead of fixing the problems, they actually have an
annual budget for false alarm fines. I quess they figure it is easier to pay
the fine than to implement a security program policy at each store with the
high turn over of people. According to our city alarm coordinator, one of
the bigs, here locally, had over 100 alarms in 1 week. Another one actually
locked the overnight cleaning crew inside, figuring if they left early,
central would get the alarm. Problem was they didn't bypass the interior
protection, nor did they notify their central of their intent, so
consequently the PD was getting called everytime they walked in front of the
motions. They really deserve to be exempt.  YAH RIGHT!!! and the industry is
the one that gets the blackeye for this kind of stuff.
