Re: CBUS Bus Coupler and light programming problem
Paul,
I agree eventhough I use CBUS extensively - for our hotpress I used a
chea=
p pir sensor from a broken outdoor light (~< =A310) and two door
switches -=
opening door puts power to pir which puts on the light for the specified t=
ime - light goes out immediately if both doors close. If door left open
lig=
ht stays on for 2 minutes if somebody walks up to open door the pir comes
o=
n again putting on the light for 2 minutes. Beats an =A380 coupler and a
re=
lay slot.
Martin.

I know I should probably hung as a heretic for saying this but...
Wouldn't it have been massively simpler & cheaper to use a dedicated
plun=
ger switch of the type designed for *exactly* this purpose?... - I have
thi=
s arrangement on my "pantry" door in the kitchen (despite there
being a CBU=
S panel in that very room). The switch cost almost nothing, - =A32 or =A33
=
IIRC, when the door is open the light is on, when the door is closed the
li=
ght is off. Simple, reliable, cheap. With CBUS costing something in the
ord=
er of =A3100/channel it seemed absurd to me to use it for such a
"noddy" ap=
plication where the fact of it being CBUS added no extra functionality or
u=
seability over & above that provided by a simple mechanical switch. -
Just =
IMHO of course!
Take a look around any Ikea or MFI or the like these days, and all the wa=
rdrobes they sell have this arrangement as an option...
I *am* a big CBUS fan by the way!
