I sometimes get stuff (e.g a pen) jammed in my vaccum cleaner hose, and
have to stop and work it out. What stops this kind of thing happenning
with central vacs? Larger diameter pipes? Overwhelming suction
power? After all, it would be a nightmare if something got wedged in an
inaccessible pipe...

I've just about finished installing a Beam system, and am looking forward
to
trying it out. The theory on these is that the tightest bend on the whole
pipework system is the 90o bend behind the wall faceplate, and is therefore
accesible to remove the odd ballpoint. If anything can get around there it
should make around every other bend. I'm hoping the theory works!
