RE: [OT] Ikea LED Dioder Colour Changing Lighting Strips

I've got Helvar Digidim installed at the house so it is being dimmed
by one
of their 452 universal dimmer modules set to trailing edge dimming. I don't
see any reason why a "normal" dimmer would not work as well. The
rope
creates a really nice gentle wash of light across the kitchen floor at
plinth level and up the wall above the wall units, looks very good after
dark. I've tried taking photos but my digital camera is fully automatic so
does not really cope with night shots unfortunately.

The great thing about Duralite is that it can be cut at 1m intervals which
gives some flexibility during installation. It also means you can buy a 45m
drum and cut it down to length as needed, cheaper than buying cut lengths
providing you need close to the capacity of the drum. You also need to
order
the relevant jointing kits to hook it all up and if it is for linear runs
then buy the continuous track for mounting the rope as the clips are pretty
useless - very fragile (broke every one when removing the rope after a
trial
fit) and if you want to avoid drooping between the clips then the spacing
between clips needs to be quite small.

Neil -

how do you dim it, please ... ordinary dimmer, or ... ??

('can think of lots of applications in our situation, out-doors &
in' ... so could be buying some to try out)
