IIRC, going over a certain res' requires a double connection ...
can't recall the details, but SFAIR only the largest screens have
needed dual link DVI ... for example, these days all the Apple
displays are way larger than 1380x768, and only the largest 2560x1300
one needs dual-link DVI ... so I wondered if the VGA part was the
problem, but the VGA screen on our old 'Mac is 1600x1200 ... so ... ???
