Re: [OT] Broadband Backup
No WiFi locally and I don't think the 3g option would cope with the
amount
of data I'd need to push/pull.
Thanks for the reply though.

Davey,
How about a wireless solution?
3g data card or WiFi...
Do you have any friendly neighbours that could provide a back-up WiFi
route,
maybe you could have a reciprocal arrangement?

Subject: [ukha_d] [OT] Broadband Backup
I'm currently with BT for my broadband connection.
I was thinking of also getting a Bulldog telephone line and broadband as a
backup incase the BT one went belly-up. I did think about NTL as a
completely different type of connection - cable ... but they don't do it in
my postcode. ISDN with a fixed IP address was too expensive - £250
setup and
£60 per month. The reason behind wanting this is I lost internet
access for
three weeks due to account issues and a fault at the local exchange and I
lost work through this.
I'm assuming that I would lose both BT and Bulldog at the sametime if the
local exchange went "Bang!" or if Joe Monkey ripped up the
telephone lines
with his JCB but I'd have to live with that.
I guess my questions are ...
Does this give me any resilience or is it a waste of cash ?
Any other Suggestions ?
Thanks
Davey
