Splicing SVHS cables

OK, so I hid a lovley SVHS cabnle behind my newly laid skirting board
and then the unthinkable...........as I connected the cable up to my
AV amp..........2 of the pins broke!!!!!!

So I thought OK I;ll just splice together another end onto the cable,
but no picture.

So then I re-spliced the cable back together and ran it across the
room to test teh cable.......and nothing again.

So can someone please tell me what is going on here and how to put a
new plug on my SVHS cable
