Yeah it's a wierd one. The UPS *USED* to be fine but the batteries went
on it (when it was about 5 years old) and at the time I was out of work
and so I removed the batteries and put the UPS aside for when I could
afford to replace them. As it is, with my "big" server hanging
off it
it's only egistering about 12% load so it's not being caned ... I ended
up scouring the house for things that I could plug into it to actually
generate some usefull load to try to calibrate it with!

I guess the UPS could well have died whilst it's been mothballed but
it's been so long since I've had it in use that I could just as well be
missing something obvious! :-D

You can only do this on the "XL" versions of the UPS (mine isn't
an XL)
but I do have three external battery cabinets that I obtained from
somewhere. (Knackered batteries in them though of course.)
