In the playing back that I've done so far of WMV-HD material on the lappy
it
has not at any point been swamped - task manager has never shown more than
about 60% load on any of it.

Yup - I have a 256Mb fanless ATi card in my HTPC and it hasn't barfed on
anything that I've thrown at it yet.
