I used to do this but bought the DSP card for a number of reasons:
1) The video out on some video cards isn't very good
2) The full screen view on the standard Geovision PC ISN'T real time
(25fps=
) - speed depends on rated fps of the card, spread over the number of
video=
feeds you are displaying. In my situation this was typically 4-5 fps. It's=
OK but not smooth. The DSP card provides 25fps video out on the composite =
connector AND the Geovision PC by using the graphics card overlay surface.
3) Depending on how your PC is setup, you need to keep the screen
fullscree=
n. If you have any popups etc (like for auto updates), this will mean
havin=
g to go to the PC and clearing them. I often performed maintenance or used
=
the log viewer on the Geovision PC and forgot to switch back to full
screen=
. A PITA when next wanting to view the feeds from a TV etc.
4) Controlling the layout of the screen i.e. which cameras and layout type
=
- 1 cam, matrix etc - has to be done at the Geovision PC. I tried doing
thi=
s remotely with Girder but the weird way in which the Geovision software
ha=
ndles keyboard commands makes this unreliable. However, the DSP card is
sim=
ilar but does have an app that you can use to change the layout. You could
=
also get the IR controller and do it this way I guess.
Paul.
