It may have but if thats the case the second amp shouldnt be showing a
fault
unless the speaker is a now short circuit but then with the speakers
disconnected it should return to normal unless it has been damaged by the
faulty speaker.

The really confusing thing is that you said you tried a different amp and
confirmed that the speaker was dead. Did that amp survive that test or
havent you tried it since ?

It seems to me there is some dodgy protection circuitry somewhere. Two amps
showing the same symptoms and a speaker that didnt get protected.
