I use one of these http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=35626

to trigger the common door release to my stair well. Interfaced to a
standard lock release, with a yale type lock on the gate would do the
job.

I'm obviously putting the wrong words into google..as I'm sure someone
must
of done this before...

I'd like to buy a remote control lock for our garden gate. I'd like
something with a remote keyfob (like your typical car) which will open
the
lock.
It doesn't need to actually open the gate via a motor.. just unlock it.

Ideally when the door is opened and then shut again it should lock..
rather
than having to remember to lock the gate with the remote control. I can
find
loads of companies that do the garage gate automation but nothing in the
DIY
small gate kind of thing.

The gate is at the side of the house and so getting 240VAC or 12VDC to
the
area is easy.

Any suggestions please ? ....and no it doesn't need to have a usb port,
X10,
RS232 or RS422 interface.. but it does need to be as cheap as chips
Merci.

Davey
