RE: LCD Screen interfering with X10

Switch mode PSUs are pretty much universally used in modern day electronics
as they can provide a lot of power for a given size and weight relative to
wirewound transformers which need quite hefty regulation in addition to a
heavy (and expensive) transformer itself.

There is nothing inherently *WRONG* with switch mode PSUs however it seems
that more and more frequently they are banging switching noise back out
onto
the mains - which normally wouldn't cause a problem - but I have a network
switch (NetGear 10/100 16 port) that if I plug it into the mains kills half
my house for X10 (curiously *NOT* local to the switch but the other side of
the house) and I *HAD* a cheap PC PSU that did the same - that got put in
my
Mother In Law's PC a while back when I did her an "upgrade" as
she'll never
need X10 at her house! (I remembered my M.I.L.'s PC because I just had it
back at home to sort out a problem she was having and when I plugged it it
all my X10 started playing up - took me ages before I remembered that it
was
her PSU!!!)
