Re: {Spam?} RE: [OT] Anyone heard of OEM-CD before?

Be very careful on this.

You may find that the licence terms (the ones you had to accept in opening
the wrapper) include the standard OEM provision, namely that you are only
allowed to use this software ON THE HARDWARE WITH WHICH IT WAS SUPPLIED.

Hence the need to use it with either a particular motherboard, or a
particular disk, which feel like they might JUST be OK.

If you install that copy of XP on another PC, then you're breaking the
licence terms...

If this is fine by you, then so be it. However, be aware that you're NOT
actually purchasing a legal licence to the product... and on that basis,
there are cheaper ways to commit software piracy :-)

I think you're right with what you say about OEM S/W, but this is
frequently
abused, or at least twisted. E.g., in a moment of madness I bought
something fro that highly reputably retailer Scan. By purchasing a £7
modem
card, that entitled me to an OEM version of XP Pro, which I use to this
day.
I've just taken another look at the site, and they now specify that you
need
to buy an HD or MB to get the OEM s/w.

Are you going to give them a go Dave? The only suspicious thing, other
than
the prices, is that the FAQ states the s/w comes from Eastern Europe.
Hmmm...

No, not heard of them before,

IIRC, you can only ship OEM (original equipment manufacture - I think..)
software if you're a system builder or it has to acompany some
hardware...don't think its 'ok' to sell it on its own...

Good prices though!!

Although OT, it is applicable to my new, hopefully arriving
soon,
touch screen PC.

Has anyone heard of this company before. The prices seem to
good to be
true and with free shiping, even more so.
