IPOD - warning

Just a word of warning to anyone thinking of buying an ipod.

One of my lads bought one less than 3 months ago. Ok he's maybe not the
most
gentle/careful of souls (he's a typical youngster after all and it is a
market that the ipod is after), but it started misbehaving so it went back
to Apple under warranty.

It's been treated no better/worse than the various CD players, mini disk
players, MP3 players he has had in the past but Apple have refused to
repair
under warranty as it has scratches on the front and a slight dent in the
back of the case (what else would they expect as it spends most of its life
in a pocket).

Currently in protracted negotiations with Apple to see if they will
repair/replace but not looking good. Their very helpful advice has been
that
the damage has resulted from 'Accident, Abuse, Misuse, or Misapplication' -
how's that for a catchall to get out of virtually any claim!

They did say though in their letter that due to the 'prohibitive repair
cost
it may be prudent to consider the purchase of a new ipod'.

I'm hoping that we can get it sorted as otherwise its £200+ of his hard
earned money down the shoot :-(

John
