Re: Calling all you Confort Alarm experts...

Hi Wayne,
yes the Comfort panels are quite good. What you describe is quite
straightforward. On several of my installs i have the landing light running
off x-10. When the system is armed in night mode, the landing light is off
and the landing zone is not alarmed, but when someone gets up to go to the
bathroom and it is still dark, the landing light comes up 40% to let the
person cross the landing to go to the loo. This is on a 3 minute timer
(long enough for a pee) then it dims back down to off. I think this is the
sort of application. Another client of mine has his hall lights at 40% when
it is dark and the system is unarmed, if anyone walks thro the hall the
lights come up for 30 seconds to 100% and then return to 40%. Either of
these scenarios are quite easy to do with x-10 and Comfort. I do not
profess to be an expert by any means (especially knowing the company that I
am in) but if you want any advice you can email me off topic

Hi,
This originaly started as a 'quick question' but as ever trying to describe
what you are thinking never ends up quick.

I would like to get hold of a comfort alarm system at some point or another
- apparently they are quite good ;-) and was wondering if it would be
possible to get the controller to 'activate' a relay (either x10 or
internal?) if it detects 'movement' from PIR's. Think of it as an automatic
light switch of sorts...(?)

This is to happen when the system is NOT armed - when armed, then the
sensors act as 'normal' (ie all bells and whistles blowing)

While I'm thinking about this - can you have different types of 'armed'
modes? whereby you can be 'in' and armed (just external door/perimiter
sensors etc) and fully armed ? (is this best practice with alarm systems?)

hope the waffle makes sense :)

Wayne.
