Now that I have an espresso machine (yes, it doesn't have Gaggia written
on it but was _excellent_ value for money ;) ) I'm going to look at
beans rather than just sticking with packets of Lavazza from Asda. Going
to look at getting a stand alone grinder this weekend.

Does anybody roast their own beans, or just buy them pre-roasted?

Some guys on the bargain forums at DVD Forums were recommending buying
pre-roasted beans from www.redmonkeycoffee.com - they roast to order and
generally deliver within 48 hours.... anyone any experience?
