I can't see why it would destroy the standard functionality, other than

you actually break it during modding. In my experience, it's very
unlikely<BR>
that one break the X-box during modification.<BR>

The only drawback right now is that it's likely that X-Box Live doesn't
work<BR>
on a modded X-box running Mediaplayer as dashboard - but that will
probably<BR>
get solved as well.<BR>
<BR>
One huge (depending on your child's age) benefit of modding the machine
is<BR>
that games could be played from the hdd instead of letting small
people<BR>
fumble with the discs with their jam-sticky fingers.<BR>
