I extended my Telewest cable connection by about 25 metres without any
problems (it goes from the garage to node0 where it gets split for the
cable modem, then about 15m back to the set-top box).

The cable modems that folks like Telewest supply have a web interface with
loads of useful stats - when I did the move I checked the SNR and power
levels before and after and it didn't make any significant changes.
