As I said before, If YOU can tell the difference the money is well spent.
The higher the quality of equipment being connected, the more likely it is
to show up any deficiencies anywhere along the chain.

As Mark said, a DVD player will demand a higher quality cable than a VCR
because with the VCR you are probably only sending one video signal because
its output will be Composite. With the DVD player it will probably be
sending RGB and you dont want the different colour signals to interfere
with
each other.

I keep leads as short as possible because it is much neater.
