Mark,
It's all still at prototype stage, while we try to figure out what exactly
people will want, why, where, how much, and stuff.
The idea is basically that we build put an amp on the back of the speaker
along with an IR controlled level control. A small unit near the audio
source equipment would take in stereo audio and power, and output IR from
the remote room. The speaker in the remote room would be connected via
CAT=
5
cable to this unit, and would have an inbuilt IR receiver and amp.
Trying to get it down to a reasonable price was an issue, latest pricing
estimates was about =A3299 inc. for a stereo pair system. Also we are
concerned that people have 'issues' with using any our speakers, rather
tha=
n
a 'brand' name like B&W. And now....QED seem to have beaten us to it
with
their new 'modular' system which has exactly this IR receiver in the
powere=
d
speaker idea.
If anyone can tell me how we could make it better than QED's latest thing.
Or if it's still a go'er anyway, I'll be most grateful. As I've said before
on this list. If anyone has any nifty product suggestions ....(apart from
the usual flyingcars, X-ray specs, etc.).
Richard
