Yes, but :-)

There's a huge difference between downloading a complex web page with
LOTS of objects on it, and downloading a single large file (SP3,
anyone?)

Most big web servers are geared up to coping with loadbalancing LOTS
of requests across multiple webheads. Virtually no-one, however, will
support a single monolithic download coming from multiple difference
places (ie - multiple difference internet connections.)

Perhaps, however, mesh networks will bring the trend back to
providing big downloads as NOT archived!

Now, if someone could come up with a clever algorithm for reverse
load balancing?...
