Hi Malcolm,

You do just plug one in at each end. Basically what it does is use the
normally
unused (for ethernet) Blue and Brown pairs to carry a second ethernet
circuit

eg

Adapter @ Patch         Cable      Adapter @ Room

OR--- SKT1 ---------------OR----------- SKT1 ---- OR
GN--- SKT1 ---------------GN----------- SKT1 ---- GN

OR--- SKT2 ---------------BL----------- SKT2 ---- OR
GN--- SKT2 ---------------BN----------- SKT2 ---- GN

The connections that would normally have had the Blue and Brown pairs on
them
4&5, 7&8 are not connected to anything on SKT1 or SKT2 at either
end.

An alternative to these is to use a low cost hub in the room. You then only
need a single Ethernet port on your main hub and can feed as many PC's as
you
want over the single cable.
