LED's are somewhere around the 1400 mcd rating. Difficult to tell as Rapid
have increased their range and I don't really know which ones I bought.
All still around 75p + vat each in quantities of 25 though. I used the
water clear package with around a 16 degree viewing angle.

Hi

I used the brightest I could find for sensible money. These came from
Rapid and were about 80 or 90p inc in quantities of 25. I don't remember
the brightness but it was good without being stunning. I will check and
let you know. They are very bright to look into and pretty good as I have
used them.

I bought some of the superbright ones and to be honest was not hugely
impressed. They did not do what I wanted which is a by the by but even at
night they were a little disappointing. I do have to run some more tests
to make sure everything was as it should have been. For short range stuff
they were OK though. In the mean time they have all been pushed out of
sight under the scope and ignored.

Ian,

Thanks. What brightness LEDs did you use ? I got a blue-LED keyring torch
as a Christmas pressie and that's really bright - much too bright to look
into (compared to the status LEDs on AV equipment etc.). There's no street
lights near us either so I think they should be ok as pathway markers etc.
